Deep in sleep I watch you
Dreaming, body twitching
Do you know how much I love you
Breathing peaceful slumber

Your fur turned grey with age
Too tired to run that race
You've reached the last stage
Sleep peacefully Sammy

Like a Guardian Angel you are there
To protect and guide me
I can only sit and stare
At the wonder of your being

I know the Angels watch you
When I'm away to work
All the Angels love you
Your task nearly done

Your legs once strong and powerful
Resting, stillness now
Still handsome and so beautiful
Stay a while longer Sammy
